Verizon Wireless Shares Your Usage Data

Verizon Wireless may be sharing your usage data with “affiliates, agents and parent companies and their subsidiaries”. The reason for the sharing of data such as technical configuration, type, destination, location and amount of use and billing data is to “improve service”.

While PC Magazine reports the mobile phone provider can be stopped, the fact that personal information is being “shared” without consent or knowledge of the owner is an egregious display of arrogance and a sign that Verizon Wireless does not have a strong sense of how to protect personal information. If they voluntarily share it, you can bet they don't closely guard it.
