The goal in running a vulnerability scan is to identify devices and services on your network that are open to known vulnerabilities. We scan for invalid Windows regsitry entries, operating system version and patch levels, open ports that should be blocked, and Windows services that are configured improperly.
When identifying and repairing security vulnerabilities, there are occasionally operational or business reasons why a version upgrade or port configuration may not work with other applications and services in the environment. In those cases, alternative solutions can be implemented.
