The Client

Internet Security Corporation's client is a retail coffee shop that prepares fresh coffee, sandwiches, muffins and other snacks to local customers. Typically customers purchase their items "to-go" and sales are generally considered one-time events. Although the store is nicely decorated and furnished, they have been unable to transform to a destination in the minds of their customers.

The Business Challenge

Our client needed to find a cost-effective way to entice customers to stay longer, creating higher demand for their coffee and sandwiches and earning more profit per customer visit. At the same time, they wanted to market their store as a brand and grow their customer base.

They considered adding free WI-FI service at the store, but the national ISP they were using had no cost-effective solutions and there was no way to differentiate from the large chains that already offered free WI-FI.

Additionally, they were concerned that by offering free WI-FI their network would be vulnerable to attack by intruders who could steal their corporate or employee financial information. Any solution would require a security element to prevent data loss or theft.

The Solution

Our client decided to install a WI-FI router and hotspot to enable customers to access the Internet while enjoying the coffee and other snacks prepared daily at their store. To increase the appeal among customers and to differentiate from other coffee and sandwich shops with WI-FI hotspots, they chose to provide secure Internet access to their customers free of charge.
